O&A Design
New Chelsea Harbour Showroom
Benoist Associates Ltd were employed to project manage the conversion of an existing new showroom unit containing a pop up shop to a new flagship store for O&A Design a Moscow based interior design house and Thibault Van Renne a bespoke rug weaver from Ghent in Belgium.
The brief was to assist with the design coordination, supervise the employment of the various contractors, obtain building regulations approval and gain the necessary landlord’s licences to complete the project for its official opening in mid-March 2019. The project started in mid-November 2018 so, with the Christmas break in the middle that gave a construction period of approximately 12 weeks excluding the FF&E, commissioning and staff training.
Bespoke furniture and wall fittings including lighting had to be procured and just for added spice the drawings needed to be translated from their native Russian to English including regulatory compliance for fire, lighting, air conditioning etc.
Work on the project was restricted by the operational requirements of the Chelsea Harbour Management team and the full cooperation of the principle contractor, bespoke joinery suppliers, electricians and decorators was required to assist with the successful completion of the project during the final hours.
As can be seen from the photographs, the showroom was successfully opened on time, ready for Focus Design Week and importantly, completed within budget with a fully satisfied client.
